PURPOSE: To display a screen including two areas mutually different by luminance, on an aperture grill type display device without bringing about vertical stripes. CONSTITUTION: When screens SN1 and SN2 including windows WD1 and WD2 having luminance higher than that of desk tops DS1 and DS2 are displayed on the aperture grill type display device having an aperture grill obtained by disposing a plurality of wires like a reed screen, luminance of windows WD1 and WD2 is reduced when energy given to wires for use in display of windows WD1 and WD2 by an electron beam emitted from an electron gun of the display device exceeds energy given to the whole of the plurality of wires by the electron beam, by a prescribed degree.
