PURPOSE: A method and a device for searching a CD for a vehicle CD changer are provided to search slant surfaces formed by front parts of slantly stacked CDs by a laser searching unit, thereby simply and precisely searching a CD in a CD magazine in a short time. CONSTITUTION: A device for searching a CD for a vehicle CD changer includes a CD magazine(1) formed with a plurality of stacking grooves inside, a laser searching unit(4) mounted to an inlet part of the CD magazine for checking front ends(3) of CDs stacked in the CD magazine. The laser searching unit is mounted to a moving die(6) which moves by a motor(5). The searching result of the laser searching unit is displayed via a vehicle audio player. The CDs are stacked in the CD magazine by a predetermined inclination angle, so that the inclination angle becomes different when one of the CDs is removed. According to the inclination angle change, the omission of the CD is found out.
