PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for adjusting a photographing direction of a portable terminal with a video communication function are provided to decide a photographing direction of a camera by sensing sound sources, thereby realizing a smooth video call. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of sound source sensors installed on right and left sides of a camera sense a voice of a user for respectively inputting corresponding electric signals to sound source calculating units. The sound source calculating units compare a voice of a user which is previously stored with the current voice of the user. In the case of confirming the voice of the user, the sound source calculating units calculate strength of the voice of the user for inputting the same to a sound source direction judging unit. The sound source direction judging unit judges a direction of sound source generation. A rotation calculating unit calculates the quantity of rotation. A rotation driving unit rotates the camera as much as the quantity of rotation and judges whether the sizes of sound sources sensed in the sound source sensors are the same. If so, the rotation driving unit stops rotating the camera.
