PURPOSE: A method for controlling an ice maker is provided to sense trouble of a motor and to stably drive the motor. CONSTITUTION: A method includes the steps of: a first step(210) driving an ice ejecting lever to discharge ice; a second step(220) sensing whether position of an ice detecting lever is changed within fixed time after the ice ejecting lever is driven; a third step(230) sensing whether the ice ejecting lever is driven and reaches home position; a fourth step(240) determining that a motor rotates in reverse direction if the position of the ice detecting lever is not changed in the second step, and the ice ejecting lever is at the home position in the third step; and a fifth step(250) skipping water supply step based on the determination. The steps from the first step to the third step are repeated by fixed number if the motor is determined to rotate in reverse direction in the fourth step. A display unit indicates that the motor is in trouble if the motor is determined to rotate in reverse direction in the fourth step.
