PURPOSE: A map displaying device for supplying a partial detail map and a method thereof are provided to display a detailed map with respect to a user-wanted partial area on an area in an original map in a map supply service through a network. CONSTITUTION: A memory(120) stores the first data which are map data of the first scale received from a server in advance. An input unit(100) generates an area selection signal for selecting a partial area on the map of the first scale in accordance with an input of a user. An area selection unit(110) selects the area by responding to the area selection signal and outputs a transmission request signal of the second data which are map data of the secondary scale. A network interface unit(130) receives a transmission request signal of the second data, transmits the signal to the server, and receives the second data from the server. An analysis unit(140) receives and analyzes the second data from the network interface unit(130) and displays the data on a screen. An adjusting unit(150) adjusts a scale of the third data and creates the fourth data accorded with a size of the selected area. A synthesis unit(160) synthesizes the fourth data on the selected area of the first data.
