The method involves communications from a citizen terminal (2) requiring the provision of a reusable identification character sequence for transmission (12) in electronic form and specified for or by the citizen and a generally single use transaction character sequence for transmission in electronic form specified for the citizen. The character sequences are received by a data processing system (1) of the authority and automatically verified. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a data processing system for implementing the inventive method (b) and a computer, especially a citizen's terminal, a first data processing system for the authorities, a second data processing system for a service provider or similar.
