PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive optical fiber coupler reinforcing member and an optical fiber coupler with high reliability, which improves the strength against a pressure from the outside and improves the workability and the assembling workability of the optical fiber coupler. CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber coupler reinforcing member 20 is composed of a member roughly in a rectangular parallelepiped shape formed of a hard material such as ceramics or quartz and is provided with a flat surface 21 in the longitudinal direction. Also, the cross sectional shape has a hexagonal shape inscribing a cylindrical member 50. Then, a recessed part 22 whose cross sectional shape is a U shape is formed in the longitudinal direction of the roughly rectangular parallelepiped shape member and stores a joint part L. Further, the joint part L stored in the recessed part 22 is fixed at both ends of the recessed part 22 with an adhesive material 60 or the like. Chamfering work 23a is performed to both ends of the inner wall surface 23 of the recessed part 22.
