METHOD FOR INDEXING MULTIMEDIA MOVING PICTURES USING AUDIO SIGNAL CHARACTERISTIC

PURPOSE: A method for indexing multimedia moving pictures using an audio signal characteristic is provided to improve the accuracy of division of audio scenes by reflecting peculiar characteristics of the corresponding moving picture contents. CONSTITUTION: A signal extracting module by streams(11) separates and extracts streams of multimedia contents. An unfixed clip boundary point extracting module(12) is provided to obtain a potential boundary point of audio clips. An audio signal characteristic extracting module(13) obtains several characteristic values to be used as reference values for sorting the audio clip. A threshold generating module(14) generates a threshold peculiar for contents to reflect audio characteristics and characteristics by genres of the corresponding contents. An audio scene extracting module(15) generates audio scenes through sorting of the audio clips and a grouping process.
