STRUCTURE WITH WATER-ABSORBING PROPERTY AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PURPOSE: To provide a structure with water-absorbing property which shows high air permeability even when a highly water-absorbable polymer absorbs water and swells. CONSTITUTION: This structure 1 with water-absorbing property includes an assembly of thermoplastic synthetic fibers 4, a cellulose fiber 7, a highly water-absorbable polymer 6 and a water-permeable sheet 23 which wraps these materials. The fiber assembly is of an elastically compressible honeycomb structure having a large number of through holes 27 and in a state of compression. The highly water-absorbable polymer 6 swells and softens and the fiber assembly swells so that the through holes 27 are restored to their original shape before compression, when the structure 1 absorbs water.
