PURPOSE: A device for controlling a light receiving element of an optical pickup is provided to control the position of the light receiving elements by two control screws for simply controlling the position of the light receiving elements at a low cost, thereby keeping the optimum light performance. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling a light receiving element of an optical pickup includes a base(10) formed with a beam transmission hole(12) in the center of a board mounting surface and screw coupling grooves(10a) at both side ends. First and second screw insertion grooves(100-1,100-2) are formed perpendicularly to each other at a side in the proximity of the beam transmission hole. First and second control screws(120-1,120-2) are respectively inserted into the first and second screw insertion grooves rotatably. Washers(122-1,122-2,) are respectively inserted into washer grooves(102-1,102-2) in the proximity of head grooves(104-1,104-2) for the first and second control screws, thereby preventing the movement of the first and second control screws. The washer grooves are respectively integral with the head grooves. A light receiving element(6) provided to a board(20) is fixed to the board mounting surface by fixing screws(22). The position of the light receiving element is controlled by rotating or moving to and fro by the fitting or releasing of the first and second control screws.
