HYDROGEN GENERATING APPARATUS

PURPOSE: A hydrogen generating apparatus for a fuel cell, a current generating apparatus and a method for controlling the generation of hydrogen are provided, to reduce parasitic power and to allow a fuel cell to be miniaturized. CONSTITUTION: The hydrogen generating apparatus comprises a chemical reaction chamber(60); a chemical solution reservoir(56); and an unpowered pressure producing membrane(58) for moving a chemical solution from the chemical solution reservoir to the chemical reaction chamber. Preferably the chemical solution is contained in the chemical solution reservoir(56) and contains aqueous metal hydrides. Preferably the chemical solution reservoir is contained in the chemical reaction chamber; and the chemical reaction chamber and/or the pressure producing membrane contains a flexible bag(56).
