METHOD FOR AUTHENTICATING/BILLING USER OF SHORT MESSAGE SERVICE

PURPOSE: A method for authenticating/billing a user of an SMS(Short Message Service) is provided to bill an SMS caller by extracting user information, and to use existing VoIP user information when authenticating the SMS, thereby supplying various application services to the user. CONSTITUTION: When a user's video terminal attempts a TCP connection to an SMS server, the SMS server carries out a TCP(S201). The SMS server receives a message transmitted from the video terminal(S203). The SMS server extracts an H.323 ID(S205), and decides whether the extracted H.323 ID is equal to an H.323 ID managed in a user DB(S207). If so, the SMS server transmits the message to an SMS gateway(S209). The SMS server generates a billing record for service charges, and transmits the billing record to a collecting server or a billing system(S211).
