FASTENER SUPPLY UNIT AND POSITIONING MECHANISM FOR TOOL

PURPOSE: A fastener supply unit and a positioning mechanism for a tool are provided to effectively reduce preliminary power consumed in using short nails and to exhaust combustion gas by automatically changing the consumption of the power without changing settings or switches by users. CONSTITUTION: A tool(10) for driving fasteners(20) into a workpiece(32) comprises a fastener supply device separably attached to the tool to supply the fasteners to the channel and a workpiece contact element(322). A first alignment mechanism(102) is formed on a nosepiece(26) and a second alignment mechanism is formed on the workpiece contact element. A threaded adjusting member(103) located on the workpiece contact element and a threadable adjustable mechanism(24) on the nosepiece are engaged to each other. The movement of the workpiece contact element generated by the rotation of the threadable adjustable mechanism causes the first alignment mechanism to engage the second alignment mechanism. The tool has a sensor held by the housing and a detector disposed in a fastener supply unit for sensing the length of the fasteners and transmitting the length to the sensor.
