Linear path measurement device, especially for determination of piston position in a fluid cylinder arrangement comprises an alternating voltage bridge circuit (13) with one side comprised of an elongated measurement coil (10) with a middle tap (14) and the other side comprised of two inductive, capacitive or resistive symmetrical bridge elements (11, 12). A permanent magnet (20) is attached to the object whose position is to be determined and moves along the length of the coil so that its position can be determined by an evaluation arrangement (16).
