A crankshaft 32 is disclosed having a crankpin 70 adapted to be coupled to a variable length connecting rod assembly 34 with a rod bearing 76 disposed between the crankpin 70 and the connecting rod 76. The crankshaft 32 includes fluid passages 94, 96 for supplying pressurized fluid to respective apertures 90, 92 which communicate with the connecting rod assembly 34 so as to vary the compression ratio of the engine. <IMAGE>
