<p>A compound eye image pickup apparatus which enables a single, continuous entire object image to be obtained from a plurality of partial object images taken by a plurality of image pickup regions, is disclosed. The compound eye image pickup apparatus comprises a compound eye optical element which has a plurality of lens portions, each with converging optical power; and an image pickup element which performs photoelectric conversion of images of a plurality of regions of an object formed respectively by the plurality of lens portions, at mutually different image pickup regions. The apparatus furthermore comprises an image combining circuit performing a process of combining an image of an entire object from a plurality of images respectively obtained from the abovementioned plurality of image pickup regions. <IMAGE></p> |
