摘要 A collision detection system (18) and method (40) of estimating a miss distance (M) are provided. The collision detection system (18) includes a sensor (12) for sensing an object (16) in a field of view (14). The sensor (12) measures range (r) and range rate (&) of the object (16). The collision detection system (18) further includes a controller (20) for estimating a miss distance (M) as a function of the measured range (r) and range rate (&), without requiring a measured azimuth angle measurement. <IMAGE>
