A loss-proportional signal (V) may conform to a given standard and is passed to a multiplier (M). It outputs a relative loss signal (Vrel) to a low-pass filter (TP) which sends a signal (Vg) to a discriminator circuit (D). This circuit produces two outputs going respectively to an increment stage (INC) and a decrement stage (DEC).
