The plug socket has an insulative plug piece receptacle (16) arranged in a housing (10) and configured to move between initial and plug-in positions. Contact balls (26) are provided on side walls (18) of the receptacle for making contact with a plug piece (5) inserted in the receptacle. The socket also has a spring (34) to urge the receptacle into the initial position and the balls towards interior space of the receptacle.
