The tool, especially a torque wrench, consists of a drive member (5) able to turn inside a hollow outer body (3) with a spring, a handle (7) and adjustable interlocking components. The latter are in the form of a fixed ring (9) on the body and an adjustable one (11) on the handle with interlocking teeth (79, 99) that are set to give the required torque. The tool is rotated by the handle until the required torque is achieved by the drive member, when the interlocking teeth disengage.
