<p>Container for holding and discharging a non-coherent but cohesive material has a flexible body (2) of e.g. thin rubber, fabric or plastic film, of cylindrical or prismatic form supported at each end by stiff hoops (5,10) or frames, where the base (6) is made of flexible material and carries an outlet (14) of smaller bore than the contai ner. A rigid radial flange (4) surrounding the outlet (14) allows the base to be supported level with clips (11) around the bottom end of the container body, but the flange can be disengaged the clip to allow the base to extend axially to produce a conical outlet (6) converging from the fall bore (12) of the container body. Used esp. for pendant (7.8) containers for storing and releasing measured total quantities of granular or powdered materials, which may agglomerate, e.g. ground rubber, pigments, plastics masterbatch materials, etc. with the base in the raised position, when the outlet cap (16) is removed, materials can discharge from the centre of the container at a limited rate, until an annular residue (A) is retained on the level base by the angle of repose (beta) of the material. The base may then be released to drop the remainder of the material. Any bridging of the material can be disturbed by axial oscillation of the extended flexible conical base.</p> |
