The invention relates to the cosmetic and/or dermatological use of a composition for depigmenting and/or lightening the skin and/or hair, including body hair, the said composition comprising at least one oxidation-sensitive hydrophilic active principle chosen from ascorbic acid and its derivatives and at least one maleic anhydride copolymer, comprising one or more maleic anhydride comonomers and one or more comonomers chosen from vinyl acetate, vinyl alcohol, vinylpyrrolidone, olefins comprising from 2 to 20 carbon atoms, and styrene, in a physiologically acceptable medium comprising an aqueous phase.
