The vegetable tannic extract for tanning of hides comprises pressed grape peel in a solution of a sulfonation agent in water. Also claimed is a process using the extract. CLAIMED PROCESS - The process comprises autoclaving, solid-liquid separation and concentration of the purified extract, which is soluble and dispersible in cold water at low cost.
