A vibration-damping mounting for the disc 2 of a spot-type disc brake consists of a distance piece 3, which may be separate, as shown, or integral with either the disc or a rigid support 1, and is arranged between the disc and support so as to present a clearance opening towards the margin of the disc, and a damping member 4 of material having a high coefficient of friction and a high mechanical loss factor which is fixed in the clearance opening. Preferably the material of the member 4 is also resilient so that it is firmly held when the parts are secured together by screws 5. The support 1 is splined to a shaft 10 to be braked for rotation therewith. A conventional fixed caliper 20 is used to apply pads 22 to the disc. |
