[Also in Divisions B5, B6, C3, C4, C5 and Dl] Compositions containing, as colouring component, a chromogen-bonded addition polymer (see Division C3) are used for coating surfaces such as leather, wood, steel, concrete and glass (see Examples 63, 71-74, 78 and 86). In most cases, the compositions are applied by spraying. The composition may take the form of an organic solvent solution or an aqueous emulsion or solution. Other components included in some cases are polyvinyl acetate, titanium dioxide, casein, starch, sodium oleate, a thermosetting acrylic resin, an epoxy resin, hexamethylmethylol-melamine and an ethylacrylate-styrene-N-methylolacrylamide copolymer. The chromogen-bonded polymers used in the Examples are derived from derivatives of acrylic, methacrylic and itaconic acid.
