SHORT MESSAGE TRANSFER SERVICE SYSTEM AND METHOD

PURPOSE: A short message transfer service system and method is provided to offer an SMS free of termination failure by storing a short message sent from a caller and supplying it to a receiver when he wants. CONSTITUTION: A short message transfer service system(10) communicates with a wireless terminal(50) through a wireless network provider(20), is connected with a personal computer(60) through the Internet(30), and forms a call path with a wire terminal(70) through a PSTN(40). In order to use a short message transfer service, the user of the wireless terminal(50) or the wire terminal(70) accesses the RFC(Remote Feature Controller)(28) of the wireless network provider(20) and sends a service request. The RFC(28) transmits the request to an HLR(Home Location Register)(24). A short message sent from the user of the wireless terminal(50) is transmitted to an SMSC(Short Message Service Center)(22) through an MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(26). The SMSC(22) transmits the short message to the short message transfer service system(10), based on the receiver's location information stored in the HLR(24). The short message transfer service system(10), storing the received short message, processes and provides it if a message confirmation request is received from the user.
