PURPOSE: A packing for adjusting pressure is provided to seal a pressure container and to be used as a safety valve to enhance the safety of the pressure container. CONSTITUTION: A packing for adjusting pressure is installed at a packing groove of the peripheral portion of a cover to seal an inner space defined by the cover and a container. A packing is composed of first and second edges(13) pressed in a direction pressed to the peripheral portions of the cover and the packing groove by the pressure in the inner space, a support(11) installed at the end of the peripheral portion of the packing groove, and a plurality of elongated grooves(15) formed at the support where the first and second edges are connected to the support. On increasing the pressure in the inner space, the first and second edges near the elongated grooves are deformed in a circumferential direction.
