PURPOSE: A side collision detecting device for a vehicle is provided to quickly operate an airbag by measuring the deformation of a door. CONSTITUTION: A side collision detecting device for a vehicle is composed of an impact member(4) installed between outer and inner panels(1,2) and absorbing impact, a deformation measuring member(5) installed at the impact member and measuring impact, and an ECU. The ECU receives a measured signal from the deformation measuring member, and determines the spread of an airbag.
