PURPOSE: A key input system and method in a folder type terminal is provided to apply the power key, installed on the keypad of a folder type terminal, at the external of the folder so as to turn on the power without opening the folder. CONSTITUTION: A key input system in a folder type terminal comprises a power supply part(210), the first power key input part(221), the second power key input part(222), and an MSM(230). The power supply part(210) supplies power to the MSM(230). The first power key input part(221), installed at the keypad of the inside of the folder, controls the power supply of the power supply part(210) according to a user's input. The second power key input part(222), installed at the external of the folder, controls the power supply of the power supply part(210) according to a user's input. The MSM(230) activates the operation of the terminal system in case that power is supplied from the first power key input part(221) and the second power key input part(222).
