<p>A novel phosphor material that exhibits a brightness superior to that of conventional rare earth ion dispersion phosphor and is excellent in light resistance, aging stability, etc.; and a light emitting device of high brightness including the phosphor material and an excited ultraviolet light source corresponding to the properties thereof. In particular, a phosphor comprising a silicic solid matrix and, dispersed therein in a concentration of 5x10<-4> to 1x10<-2> mol/lit., semiconductor superfine particles of 1.5 to 5 nm diameter exhibiting a luminous efficiency of fluorescence of 3% or higher; and a light emitting device including the phosphor and a light source having an excited light of 3 to 800 W/cm<2> intensity.</p> |
