CORROSION TESTING OF METALS

Methods of corrosion testing metals are provided, including a method which provides a sample of the metal, a metal including grains, contacting the sample of the metal with a test liquid, the rate of corrosion of the sample of metal in the test liquid being measured, wherein the sample of the metal is contacted with a treatment liquid prior to contact with a test liquid, the contact with the treatment liquid giving grain dropping from the metal. In this way accurate corrosion testing is achieved. The invention also includes methods for establishing the rate of corrosion for a particular surface of a multi-surfaced metal.
