<p>A buckle construction for adjusting the desired length of a band, such as a belt (18), strap or the like includes a buckle/tongue construction where the tongue (30) is modified engage a selected aperture (16-20) on one end (14) of a band, such as a belt (18), tightening or loosening of the belt (18) can be achieved over a distance less than that between two adjacent apertures (16-20) on the band. In one preferred embodiment, the tongue (30) is provided with a retainer portion (32) formed intermediate the end if the tongue (30), dimensioned to releasably engage a selected aperture (16-20) and hold it in position away from the free end of the tongue (30), to incrementally shorten or lengthen the loop distance of the band or belt (18).</p> |
