The invention relates to a method of preparing, constructing and/or generating recombinant mononegaviruses in a cellular host, which can spread, and to a method of producing recombinant peptides using such recombinant mononegaviruses. The invention also relates to cDNA compositions, host cells or kits comprising the elements necessary for said construction. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions, such as vaccine compositions, comprising such recombinant mononegaviruses and to the use of said recombinant mononegaviruses as a vector for gene therapy.
