PURPOSE: A method for diagnosing trouble of an emission reduction device is provided to determine the malfunction of a catalytic heating unit by measuring ignition advance, engine rpm, and idle air amount and estimating the amount of emission. CONSTITUTION: A method for diagnosing trouble of an emission reduction device comprises the steps of: determining whether a catalytic heating unit is in normal operation(S100); measuring ignition advance, engine rpm, and idle air amount(S120), and comparing the measured values with reference values(S160,S170); and outputting a trouble indicating signal if the measured values are more than the reference values(S180).
