A device for collecting the cassettes or slides which have utility in histo- or cytological techniques has a motor driven lifting platform 1 supporting stacked panels 2. Typically, slides or cassettes are discharged from a printing device, where they have been marked, onto a plate 4 and moved from the plate onto a panel 2 by a slider 5. A sensor 15 can indicate when a desired number of slides or cassettes have been transferred onto the panel 2 and an empty panel is then moved to a transfer position.
