PURPOSE: A remote meter-reading system and method using a portable phone is provided to overcome inefficiency in equipments, costs and man power by installing an infrared ray transmitter and an infrared ray receiver that can smoothly execute transmission and reception within a short range. CONSTITUTION: A remote meter-reading system and method using a portable phone comprises a measuring part(211), a data storage part(212), an ADC(Analog-Digital Converter)(213), an infrared ray transmitter(214), an infrared ray receiver(221), an MSM(222), and RF transceiver(223). The measuring part(211) measures electricity, gas or water and outputs the measured value to the data storage part(212). The data storage part(212) stores the measured value inputted from the measuring part(211), stores the intrinsic number of the measuring part(211), and outputs the measured value and the intrinsic number to the ADC(213). The ADC(213) converts the measured value and the intrinsic number into a digital signal and outputs it to the infrared ray transmitter(214). The infrared ray transmitter(214) transmits the digital signal, inputted from the ADC(213), to the infrared ray receiver(221). The infrared ray receiver(221) outputs the digital signal to the MSM(222). The MSM(222) recognizes the measured value and the intrinsic number from the digital signal inputted from the infrared ray receiver(221) and outputs them to the RF transceiver(223). The RF transceiver(223) sends the measured value and the intrinsic number in the form of an RF signal. |
