PURPOSE: A method for having a telephone directory editing function and a method therefor are provided to supply a corrected editing mode whenever a user requests a call by retrieving a telephone directory, thereby enabling the user to simply edit a telephone number. CONSTITUTION: A mobile communication terminal decides whether a user requests an origination with a telephone number stored in a telephone directory(100). If so, the terminal decides whether the telephone directory is executed(110). If so, the terminal converts an execution mode into an edition mode from a retrieval mode(115). When the user inputs an operation command, the terminal decides whether the inputted operation command is for originating(125). If so, the terminal decides whether edited information is inputted to the telephone directory(130). If not, the terminal transmits a call connection request to a base station(135).
