CONSTITUTION: In a catalyst for converting carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide contained in waste gas into stabilized substance by oxidation and reduction, the multifunctional catalyst in which fourth period group elements and a plurality of rare earth metal oxides are covered on far-infrared ray emitting ceramic supporter is characterized in that the multifunctional catalyst is a catalyst product manufactured by primarily penetrating a mixture of fourth period group elements and lanthanum group elements on the periodic table of the elements as catalyst activation supporting agents into a ceramic supporter so that the mixture of fourth period group elements and lanthanum group elements is activated in the supporter, and secondly adhering the catalyst activation supporting agents onto the surface of the supporter uniformly and solidly so that the catalyst activation supporting agents are activated on the supporter, thereby integrally adhering the catalyst activation supporting agents into the supporter and onto the surface of the supporter.
