A die-plate, a plurality of which are used to form a die assembly, Fig. 9, comprises a plate, Fig. 3, having two rows of holes 24, 26 adjacent opposite edges of the plate and each hole being counterbored, the counter-bores in adjacent holes of a row opening from opposite sides of the plate and counter-bores on one side of the plate in one row being staggered with respect to those in the other row. In the die assembly, Fig. 9, a die-plate 19 is secured to a die shoe 10 and carries a punch and a stripper die-plate 21. A die-plate 21 is secured to a second die shoe 11 and carries a die. The die plates are aligned by means of a pin 28 in a hole 23 and a second pin in a hole 23a in the die-plates. The second pin is preferably of diamond-shaped cross-section and the hole 23a may be opened to the edge of the die-plate or elongated, Figs. 10, 11 (not shown).</p> |
