1,215,929. Starting vaporizers. C.A.V. Ltd. May 27, 1968 [June 12, 1967], No.26974/67. Headings F1B and F1K. A starting aid comprises a tubular body part 10 one end of which is adapted for connection to a source of liquid fuel and the other end of which in use extends into the inlet manifold of an internal combustion engine (not shown) an electric heating element 20 surrounding the body part, a seating 12 defined in the bore of the body part near the other end thereof, a valve closure member 13 for co-operation with the seating and a stem 14 extending within the bore of the body part from near the one end thereof to the closure member, the valve closure member being mounted on the stem. The arrangement is such that upon energization of the heating element the body part attains a temperature such that the fuel within the body part is vaporized prior to the closure member being moved relative to the seating, thereby to permit the fuel vapour to pass into the inlet manifold. An extended portion of the heating element acts to ignite the vapourized fuel leaving the body part.
|
