PURPOSE: A system for monitoring long-distance optical lines is provided to shorten time in monitoring optical lines by install an OTDR(Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) at the middle point of a long-distance optical line having a length of 400km and above and measuring both directions of the optical line at the same time. CONSTITUTION: An OTDR(20) includes an optical control part(21), a laser control part(22), an optical amplifier(23), an optical splitter(24), optical circulators(25a,25b), and optical receivers(26a,26b). If a desired optical line(3) is selected, an operation control part(40) outputs an optical line selection signal to the optical control part(21). The optical control part(21) delivers the selection signal to the laser control part(22). The laser control part(22), receiving the selection signal, outputs a monitoring light to the optical amplifier(23). The monitoring light amplified through the optical amplifier(23) is inputted to the optical splitter(24). The optical splitter(24) splits the inputted light into two and outputs them bidirectionally. The two monitoring lights are respectively inputted to the optical circulators(25a,25b). Then the two monitoring lights outputted from the optical circulators(25a,25b) are inputted to an optical switch(30). The optical switch(30) respectively outputs the monitoring lights to WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) elements(4) installed at both ends of an optical repeater(2). |
