[Also in Division B5] A coated fabric comprises a flexible polymeric coating adhered to at least one surface of a knitted substrate which comprises courses of synthetic fibre yarn consisting essentially of polyamide fibre mixed with courses of natural fibre yarn consisting essentially of cotton fibre, the coated fabric having a ratio of percentage stretch in its wales direction to its courses direction of at least 0.36. Each course of the substrate may comprise a natural fibre strand and a synthetic fibre strand. The synthetic fibre yarn may have a tenacity of at least 3 grams per denier. The polymeric coating may consist essentially of polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polyisoprenes, polynitriles, polyolefine, polyethylene terephthalate and polyurethanes, or interpolymers thereof. The coating may be applied by laminating by passage over and under heated drums and rolls, skim or bank coating, dipping, knifing, rolling or brushing. The exposed surface of the coating can be embossed, printed or top coated.</p> |
