PURPOSE: A method for registering and automatically connecting an extension number by using an intelligent network personal number service is provided to realize a personal number registered for both a representative number and an extension number, thereby automatically connecting the extension number without informing the extension number. CONSTITUTION: A user originates a personal number of a contractor who has registered an extension number(S10). A service switch point(SSP) transmits initial detection operation to a service control point(SCP) for requesting a personal number service(S12). The SCP judges whether incoming is registered to the extension number(S14). If so, the SCP divides a representative number and the extension number for ordering call connection to the representative number first(S16-S18). It is judged whether the incoming connection is successful(S20). If so, the SSP reports call connection success to the SCP(S24). The SCP transmits the extension number to an intelligent(IP)(S26). The IP generates a dual tone multi frequency(DTMF) tone corresponding to the extension number for transmitting the DTMF tone to a private branch exchange(PBX)(S28). The PBX connects the user to the extension number(S30). If not, it is judged whether secondary incoming exists(S32). If so, the SCP requests the IP to transmit a secondary incoming connection announcement(S34-S36). If the extension number is not registered, the SCP requests the SSP for connection to the incoming number(S38). The SCP judges whether the incoming connection is successful(S40). The SSP connects the user to the incoming number.
