PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling an EGR(exhaust gas recirculation) in a vehicle are provided to improve an engine performance by performing a duty control of the EGR depending on an engine R.P.M, the amount of fuel to be injected, and the intake air temperature. CONSTITUTION: After igniting an engine(S101), a control section detects the amount of fuel, the intake air temperature and the engine R.P.M(S102,S103,S104). The control section determines whether the intake air temperature exceeds a predetermined reference temperature(S105). If the intake air temperature is less than the predetermined reference temperature, an EGR duty control value is calculated based on a predetermined map table. If the intake air temperature exceeds the predetermined reference temperature, the EGR duty control value is set to "0"(S106), thereby preventing exhaust gas from flowing into a combustion chamber.
