1,237,722. Delivering sheets. UNIVERSAL CORRUGATED BOX MACHINERY CORP. 7 Oct., 1968 [2 Feb., 1968], No. 47419/68. Heading B8R. Corrugated sheets B, Fig. 3, cut from a web are delivered from a rapid conveyer to a slower conveyer 20 comprising belts 25a, 25b on which they are advanced in overlapping formation beneath hold-down rollers 59 mounted on a carriage 38 positioned so that each sheet is engaged by the rollers 59 before being released by the rapid conveyer, the carriage being settable along the conveyer 20 by a motor 53 according to the length of the sheets to be dealt .with. The sheets then pass on to a conveyer 83, Figs. 1, 6 and 8, beneath a gate 104, the conveyer 83 being driven by-the roller 24 of the conveyer 20, but at a minimum speed determined by a second drive from a further motor. The sheets then pass under hold-down rollers 59<SP>11</SP> on to a takeoff unit comprising rollers 186 to form a stack thereon, being urged down by suction applied through slots 158 in a plate 157. When a desired number of sheets is in the stack, as detected by a photo-electric cell at the inlet end of the conveyer 20, the gate is lowered by gravity and the rollers 186 are rotated to remove the stack from the take-off unit, a further photoelectric cell detecting this movement and resetting the apparatus, i.e. resetting the counter and raising the gate by chains 143 attached to a shaft 131 rotated by an air-piston. |
