The invention relates to a method for increasing the efficiency of energy conversion devices, in particular of heat engines and internal combustion engines. The invention can further be applied to electricity-generating gas turbines, aircraft engines, fuel cells and other devices driven by the combustion of fuel or propellant. According to the invention, an alternating current is introduced into the combustion chamber of the energy conversion device and the values for the ion current thus produced continuously compared with the previously determined characteristic functions of the ion current change proportional to the change in air ratio number, device output, energy support composition etc. and, by means of an electronic regulation based on said comparison, the combustion parameters critical for optimal efficiency, in particular, the air ratio number, can be adjusted or maintained. |
