A catalyst with which the carbon monoxide contained in a reformed gas is selectively oxidized with oxygen gas. The catalyst for selective oxidation of carbon monoxide comprises a porous support and, deposited thereon, ruthenium and/or platinum, wherein the porous support comprises alpha-alumina and this alumina has a purity of 99.95% or higher. The ruthenium and/or platinum has a particle diameter of 200 Å or smaller. With this catalyst for selective oxidation of carbon monoxide, the carbon monoxide contained in a reformed gas is diminished through selective oxidation. Thus, the catalyst can realize satisfactory efficiencies of fuel utilization and power generation. |
