PURPOSE: An apparatus for playing multimedia using biometrics is provided to descramble multimedia data encrypted according to bio-information of a user by recognizing the bio-information of the user, thereby preventing illegal copy of the multimedia data. CONSTITUTION: A bio-image receiving unit(600) receives bio-information of a user who tries to play multimedia data for photographing a bio-image and extracts characteristic points of the photographed bio-image. An encryption key generator(602) generates an encryption key by using the image information. A descrambling unit(604) descrambles multimedia data encrypted by using the encryption key. A decoder(606) decodes the descrambled multimedia data according to a method preliminarily set. A digital-to-analog(D/A) converter(608) converts digital data output from the decoder into analog data.
