A synthetic resin-made quadrangular container comprises a trunk of quadrangular cross section surrounded by pillars at the four corners and wal ls connecting these pillars, the trunk having a waist dividing the trunk in to at least two stages, upper and lower. In the invention, the waist is formed by an annular groove that is convex toward the inside of the container, at least t he portions of the annular groove positioned at the pillars being defined by ar ch- shaped groove walls having a given radius of curvature.
