The invention relates to a process for obtaining polyurethane rubber used for manufacturing moulded pieces, with high hardness and average elasticity and wich can be worked mechanically. According to the invention, the process consists in that , in a first step, of preparing a prepolymer from polyethylene glycol adipate and diphenylmethane diisocyanate, the weight ratio between polythzlene glycol adipate and diphenylmethane diisocyanate being of 100: 60 ...70 , followed by and adding a mixture of glycol and trimethylpropane to the prepolymer as chain stretcher as chain stretcher to obtain a polyurethane rubber having a hardness of 90 ... 96 Shore A.
